Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica: licht geciviliseerd

Met de Huracán Tecnica wil Lamborghini een zachtere kant van zichzelf laten zien. Dat is maar deels gelukt. Toch biedt de auto wel al het goede van de STO voor een flink lagere prijs.

Je zult maar een introverte persoonlijkheid hebben en toch gek zijn op Lamborghini. De lage, brede sportwagens met hun scherpe vouwen, overdadig carbongebruik, luchthappers en spoilers ogen allesbehalve bescheiden. En dan hebben we het nog niet eens gehad over het geluid van de imposante tiencilinder motoren. Het Italiaanse sportwagenmerk wilde echter toch een poging doen om ook autoliefhebbers zonder theatrale persoonlijkheidsstoornis aan zich te binden. Die poging heet Lamborghini Tecnica. Het was een ietwat riskante onderneming. Want waar romantische ballads van hardrock-bands vreemd genoeg vaak opmerkelijk goed in de smaak vallen, falen de meeste hardcore autofabrikanten hard wanneer ze proberen om een zachtere kant van zichzelf te laten zien. Een van de recentere teleurstellingen op dit gebied was bijvoorbeeld de McLaren GT. Maar waarom jezelf wenden tot merken als Lamborghini, Koenigsegg of Donkervoort voor een lekker soepele en relatief comfortabele Gran Turismo? Er zijn genoeg merken die hier al jarenlang ervaring mee hebben en dus is de kans op succes daar groter.

'Comfortabele' niche

Voor Lamborghini is het helemaal een lastig verhaal, want hoe positioneer je een auto tussen een 'standaard' Huracán EVO en de extreme Huracán STO? Is daar überhaupt nog wel een ‘comfortabele’ niche?

The 4.6 HSE, also known as P38A, was the second generation Range Rover, almost a quarter of a century after its debut. That meant that now we were in the 90s, and the concept of SUV had dramatically changed. People didn’t put off-road capabilities at the first place, instead they asked for luxury and comfort. During the design stage, several firms were contacted, and Bertone even made a full scale model, but at the end they opted for the classic British style, rightfully so. The 4.6 HSE gave exactly that (the HSE stands for “High Specification Equipment”), for instance it had an advanced, yet very troublesome, air suspension system, powered by the 4.6L V8, that would produce 225 hp and 280 ft-lb of torque. On the inside, it was basically a living room, so much in fact that in 1996 debuted the possibility of ordering one with a television and video system with VHS player. It was without a doubt the best off-roader in the world at the time of its debut, although unfortunately its cutting-edge electronics had plenty of faults, but it helped set the bar of what a luxury SUV should be. ? @iamted7
