De Carros Nieuwsflash van woensdag 16 november: de McLaren F1 krijgt een opvolger, Aston Martin Vanquish S schiet door naar 600 pk en Lamborghini Huracán Spyder ook met achterwielaandrijving.

Of hij precies hetzelfde gaat heten is nog maar de vraag, toch heeft McLaren bevestigd weer met een hyper-GT te komen. Wederom als driezits. En ook worden er 106 exemplaren van gebouwd, net als bij de legendarische F1. Ze zijn allemaal echter al verkocht. Momenteel heet het project intern nog BP23. Dat is codetaal voor Bespoke Project 2 en waarbij de ‘3’ vervolgens verwijst naar het aantal stoelen. Er lijkt een 3,8-liter V8 aan boord te komen die in combinatie met een elektrische motor het moet schoppen tot boven de 700 pk. In 2019 moet de McLaren F1-opvolger klaar zijn.

Aston Martin Vanquish S naar 600 pk

Aston Martin heeft verder gesleuteld aan de atmosferische 6.0 V12. In de nieuwe Aston Martin Vanquish S krijgt hij namelijk 600 pk, een vermogenstoename van 27 pk. Ook de Touchtronic III, de achttraps-automaat, is verbeterd voor sneller schakelen. De kleine facelift bestaat uit een nieuw aerodynamica pakket en nieuw vormgegeven uitlaatuiteindes. Op de optielijst staan onder meer nieuwe vijfspaaks velgen.

Lamborghini Huracán Spyder LP 580-2 is achterwielaangedreven

De Lamborghini Huracán Spyder was er als LP 610-4. Daar zijn alle vier de wielen aangedreven. Op de Los Angeles Motor Show staat daar nu ook de al eerder aangekondigde LP 580-2. Inderdaad, de achterwielaangedreven variant. De nieuwe LP 580-2 is net iets lichter dan de vierwielaangedreven versie. Het scheelt 33 kilo. Daarentegen moet de 580 het doen met – de naam verraadt het al – 580 pk, terwijl de LP 610-4 voor 610 pk aan vermogen zorgt. De LP 610-4 is dan ook iets rapper. De 0-100 km/u sprint verloopt in 3,4 seconden en bij de versie met 580 pk sterke 5,2-liter V10 duurt dat 3,6 tellen. Het toegenomen driftplezier moet het verschil in kracht dan maar compenseren.

The 4.6 HSE, also known as P38A, was the second generation Range Rover, almost a quarter of a century after its debut. That meant that now we were in the 90s, and the concept of SUV had dramatically changed. People didn’t put off-road capabilities at the first place, instead they asked for luxury and comfort. During the design stage, several firms were contacted, and Bertone even made a full scale model, but at the end they opted for the classic British style, rightfully so. The 4.6 HSE gave exactly that (the HSE stands for “High Specification Equipment”), for instance it had an advanced, yet very troublesome, air suspension system, powered by the 4.6L V8, that would produce 225 hp and 280 ft-lb of torque. On the inside, it was basically a living room, so much in fact that in 1996 debuted the possibility of ordering one with a television and video system with VHS player. It was without a doubt the best off-roader in the world at the time of its debut, although unfortunately its cutting-edge electronics had plenty of faults, but it helped set the bar of what a luxury SUV should be. ? @iamted7
