Je auto snel virusvrij? Zet hem in de zon

Volgens het Algemeen Dagblad is je auto in twintig minuutjes coronavirusvrij als je hem bij wat warmer weer in de zon zet. Ook makkelijk als je meer zaken wilt ontsmetten, zoals mondkapjes. Je legt ze gewoon in de auto.

Het coronavirus houdt niet van warmte. In 20 minuutjes is een mondkapje, je kleding of je boodschappen virusvrij als je ze gedurende die tijd blootstelt aan een temperatuur van 55 graden Celsius. Bij een temperatuur van 65 graden houdt het virus het slechts 5 minuutjes vol. Je oven is dus een prima ontsmetter, al lijkt een wasmachine of droger voor een aantal zaken een logischer keuze. Daarin wordt het op de hoogste stand ook voldoende warm en is je mondkapje of kleding weer virusvrij.

Binnentemperatuur

Ook de auto blijkt een prima virusdoder te zijn. Op een wat warme dag vol zonneschijn wordt het in een geparkeerde auto met gesloten raampjes snel bloedheet. Volgens het Algemeen Dagblad heb je bij een buitentemperatuur van 20 graden Celsius in no-time binnen in je auto 45 graden Celsius te pakken. Als je flink wat boodschappen moet doen is dat genoeg tijd om alles binnenin te ontsmetten. De auto zelf, maar ook ander zaken. Het AD baseert zich op een onderzoek van de Universiteit van Georgia.

Overleven

Overigens kan het coronavirus in normale omstandigheden – huiskamertemperaturen - een dag in leven blijven op papier of karton. Op een ondergrond van plastic of roestvrij staal vindt het virus het tot drie dagen prettig.

The 4.6 HSE, also known as P38A, was the second generation Range Rover, almost a quarter of a century after its debut.
