V12-variant op 812 Superfast laat binnenkort van zich horen

Op 5 mei onthult Ferrari zijn 812 Superfast-variant met 830 pk sterke V12 motor. Dat nieuwe model belooft geen katje te worden dat je zonder handschoenen aanpakt.

Ferrari noemt de nieuwe versie nu no de ‘limited edition V12’. Hoe de uiterst krachtige variant op de 812 Superfast precies gaat heten, brengt het pas op 5 mei naar buiten. Ondertussen onthult de tijdelijke naam dat de Italianen een kleine oplage in gedachten hebben. Waarschijnlijk maak je dus alleen kans op de nieuweling als je al een hele vloot Ferrari’s bezit. Het merk zegt er alvast dit over: “Het model is bedoeld voor Ferrari's meest gepassioneerde verzamelaars en connaisseurs en beschikt over tal van compromisloze technologische oplossingen om ongeëvenaard rijplezier te garanderen.”

Vierwielbesturing

Ferrari zegt dat ze de kenmerken van de 812 Superfast hebben aangescherpt tot een niveau dat nog niet eerder is vertoond. Dat zit hem in eerste instantie in het vermogen. De V12-motor overlegt liefst 830 pk bij een toerental van 9.500 tpm. Ferrari investeerde bovendien in een nieuw kleptimingmechanisme en een nieuw uitlaatsysteem. De ‘limited edition V12’ – dankzij een overvloed van koolstofvezel een stuk lichter dan de 812 Superfast - krijgt eveneens vierwielbesturing mee. De zevende generatie Side Slip Control is eveneens aan boord. Ook sleutelde het Ferrari Styling Centre samen met de aerodynamica-team aan de downforce-niveaus.

Het interieur zal in grote mate gelijk zijn aan dat van de 812 Superfast, al is het portierpaneel opnieuw ontworpen om gewicht te verminderen. Op 5 mei dus meer nieuws.

The 4.6 HSE, also known as P38A, was the second generation Range Rover, almost a quarter of a century after its debut. That meant that now we were in the 90s, and the concept of SUV had dramatically changed. People didn’t put off-road capabilities at the first place, instead they asked for luxury and comfort. During the design stage, several firms were contacted, and Bertone even made a full scale model, but at the end they opted for the classic British style, rightfully so. The 4.6 HSE gave exactly that (the HSE stands for “High Specification Equipment”), for instance it had an advanced, yet very troublesome, air suspension system, powered by the 4.6L V8, that would produce 225 hp and 280 ft-lb of torque. On the inside, it was basically a living room, so much in fact that in 1996 debuted the possibility of ordering one with a television and video system with VHS player. It was without a doubt the best off-roader in the world at the time of its debut, although unfortunately its cutting-edge electronics had plenty of faults, but it helped set the bar of what a luxury SUV should be. ? @iamted7
